Google Workspace Update

Google Groups is rolling out stricter internal/external classifications, clearer external-member indicators, and more granular controls for adding external users. API behavior is also changing to better support synced groups in Google Workspace.

• Automatic settings updates when syncing groups from a third-party identity provider via API.

• Existing groups will be automatically classified based on current membership, with no access changes.
• Admins can review and adjust group labels in the Admin console or via the Groups Settings API.
• End users do not need to take any action.
• Rollout is in progress for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with expected completion by July 1, 2026.
