Frequently Asked Questions

Product & Features

We monitor public release notes from software and hardware vendors and notify you when new releases, security patches, or end-of-life announcements are published. Supported products currently include Microsoft, Cisco, Canonical, Apple, VMware, and others - see the full list on our Products page.
All updates are sourced directly from the official release notes published by the respective vendors. We summarize the content, structure it by category, and flag security-relevant changes. We do not generate, modify, or verify the underlying technical content - always consult the original vendor release notes before acting on critical updates.

Each update is structured into clear sections so you can scan what matters in seconds:

  • Update Summary - a short overview of what changed
  • Bug Fixes - resolved issues
  • Known Issues - unresolved problems to be aware of
  • New Features - newly added functionality
  • Hints - additional notes, SDK or compatibility information
  • Reference IDs - release-level KB, advisory, or vendor IDs in the summary
  • Security Relevant Flag - clear "yes / no" indicator for security-impacting changes
  • Community feedback - user-reported installation experience (smooth / minor / major) and comments

Each update also links back to the original vendor release notes.

Notifications are typically delivered within a few hours and no later than 48 hours after the vendor publishes a release. Timing depends on how the vendor publishes release notes and how frequently their sources are polled.
Yes. You can set custom alert intervals (immediate, daily digest, weekly summary) and filter by severity, product, or vendor.
Updates are available through your personal tracking list in the app and via email notifications. Enterprise plans additionally include API access for programmatic integration.
Every update carries a clear security-relevant flag (yes / no). Security-flagged updates are highlighted throughout your tracking list and notifications so you can prioritize accordingly.
Users can rate their installation experience (smooth / minor issues / major issues) and leave comments about their real-world deployment. This helps other IT admins assess risk before rolling out an update - beyond what vendor release notes typically disclose.

Pricing & Billing

No. All paid plans are billed annually. This keeps pricing predictable and reduces administrative overhead on both sides.
No. All prices shown are net and exclusive of VAT. VAT will be added where required by law.
Yes. You can cancel via your account settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current annual term - your access remains active until that date. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 30 days before the end of the current term.
No. Subscription fees are non-refundable, including for unused portions of the term, except where required by applicable law.
A Seat license covers one user. A Team license covers exactly 5 users on the same company domain and includes shared tracking lists and team-wide alert configuration. Team is the right choice as soon as multiple admins in the same organization need to collaborate.
The Team plan is fixed at 5 users. For smaller teams, we recommend purchasing individual Seat licenses. For teams larger than 5, see Enterprise.
Enterprise plans add unlimited users, API access, custom webhook and SSO integrations, dedicated support, optional data processing agreements (DPA), and the ability to add custom products to your tracking list - including internal tools and niche vendors not yet supported by default.
We currently don't offer a free trial. If Enterprise features are relevant to your evaluation, contact us at sales@updatealert.io for a demo.

Accounts & Team Use

updatealert.io is offered exclusively to businesses, freelancers, public institutions, and other entities acting in a professional or commercial capacity. It is not intended for consumers.

Yes. You can upgrade at any time - the price difference is prorated for the remaining term. Downgrades take effect at the end of the current annual term.
