Update Summary

Google Voice now offers "Take notes for me" for calls, with recording, transcription, summaries, and action items delivered by Gmail and stored in Voice. The feature rolls out starting 2026-06-16 for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains and is available to Voice Standard and Voice Premier customers.

Update Details

Security

  • Call recording begins with an audio disclosure: "This call is being recorded and captured by AI".
  • Post-call notes and transcriptions are accessible only to the user who initiated AI capture.
  • Admins can customize consent language in the admin console.

New Features

  • "Take notes for me" in Google Voice records and transcribes calls, then generates summaries and action items.
  • Notes are emailed after the call and saved with transcript and audio in the Voice app.
  • Admins can enable or disable the feature at the domain, OU, or group level.

Known Issues

  • The feature is available in English only at this time.

Hints

  • New Voice users have the feature enabled by default; existing users must be enabled manually by an admin.
  • End users must turn on Workspace Smart Feature Consent in account settings to use the feature.
  • Rollout is an extended rollout and may take longer than 15 days for visibility.
