Reference IDs: ESXi80U3i-25205845, ESXi80U3si-25197580, ESXi_8.0.3-0.95.25205845, ESXi_8.0.3-0.92.25197580.

Update Details

Security

  • Addresses CVE-2025-15467 by updating OpenSSL to 3.0.19.
  • Includes security-only image ESXi80U3si-25197580 and security-related updates to core ESXi, install/upgrade, Pensando ionic drivers, and VMware Host Client components.
  • Fixes a restrictive security domain issue where SFCB could not connect to /tmp/VMISCSI_MGMT_IPC_PATH, causing repeated Access denied by vmkernel access control policy messages.

Bug Fixes

  • Fixes First Class Disk issues, including missing FCD visibility after snapshot revert and rare FCD catalog corruption.
  • Resolves multiple host crash and purple-screen issues involving vSAN over RDMA, NVMe/RDMA, NVMe/TCP, NVMe vVol paths, I/O thread races, and memory pressure.
  • Fixes NFS and vSAN storage problems, including intermittent NFS4ERR_IO, datastore refresh hangs, false APD/PDL warnings, and VMFS metadata corruption alert coverage.
  • Resolves USB/VMware Remote Console idle disconnects caused by Envoy keep-alive handling.
  • Fixes packet drops by increasing the default Vmxnet3RxQueueBound from 256 to 1024.
  • Fixes iSCSI path failover delays and lowers default timeout values to reduce I/O pauses.
  • Resolves encrypted disk corruption risk when disks are renamed outside supported VMware tools.
  • Fixes HPE iLO 7 MAC address and vNIC alias issues during resets and firmware changes.
  • Resolves residual NSX configuration that could block NSX VIB removal or re-enablement.
  • Fixes VMware Host Client severity event description mismatches.

New Features

  • Adds configurable maximum UDP syslog transmission length via Syslog.global.remoteHost.maxMsgLen.
  • Default UDP syslog message length is now 1024 bytes and can be increased up to 16,384 bytes.

Known Issues

  • The ESXi and esx-update bulletins are dependent on each other; include both in a single host patch baseline or use the rollup bulletin to avoid patching failures.
  • For vSphere Quick Boot support, check vendor compatibility in the referenced Quick Boot compatibility KB.
  • Known issues from previous releases remain listed, including DPU reset limitations, some networking constraints, and FIPS RSA signature limits below 2048 bits.

Hints

  • Host reboot and VM migration or shutdown are required for the patch and offline bundle installation.
  • Download the patch from the Broadcom Support Portal; authenticated online/offline download guidance is referenced by KB 390121, 390098, and 389276.
  • For lifecycle management, VMware recommends using vSphere Lifecycle Manager or an ESXi image profile.
  • ESXi 8.0 Update 3i includes updated AMD and Intel microcode tables.
