Update Summary
Veeam Plug-in for Scale Computing HyperCore 1.1, version 13.4.2.9, adds integrated image-level backup, restore, malware detection, tape support, and cross-platform recovery capabilities for HyperCore environments.
Update Details
Security
- Supports multi-factor authentication (MFA) access control and four-eyes authorization.
- Provides inline entropy scanning, scheduled SureBackup scans, YARA suspicious-file detection, Veeam Threat Hunter, and ad hoc malware scanning.
New Features
- Fully integrated management, backup, and restore operations without an ancillary appliance.
- Image-level full and CBT-enabled incremental backups with VM, tag, and cluster-scope job sources.
- VM and disk-level backup exclusions, broad repository support, email notifications, customizable compression and block size, scheduled backup health checks, and backup-to-tape support.
- VM restore mobility to Nutanix AHV, Proxmox VE, KVM, AWS, Azure, and Google Cloud.
- Instant recovery to VMware, Hyper-V, and Nutanix AHV, plus VMDK/VHD/VHDX disk export and Windows/Linux disk publishing.
- File-level and application-level restore using Veeam Explorers in heuristics mode.
Known Issues
- If any Scale Computing HyperCore cluster node is unavailable, snapshot operations are disabled cluster-wide and backups fail.
- Because HyperCore has no cluster virtual IP, backup and restore operations stop if the cluster node used for the connection becomes unavailable.
- HyperCore limits individual virtual disk volumes to 16 TB.
- Application-aware processing and instant recovery to HyperCore are not supported.
- Backup from HyperCore replica copies, Manual Move, VeeamZIP retention, and Backup Copy exclusions for HyperCore jobs or objects are not supported.
- Backups cannot be imported from unsupported repository types, which may affect backup copy jobs.
- Veeam Cloud Connect and HPE Cloud Bank Storage are unsupported as backup repositories for HyperCore backups; only file-level restores are available for certain backups stored on HPE Cloud Bank Storage.
- Entire VM restore to HyperCore is unavailable from Veeam Cloud Connect or external repositories, and VM restore from tape to HyperCore is unsupported.
- Workers start serially rather than in parallel, and automatic host affinity may place multiple workers on one host.
- A second health check of the same corrupted data can return a green session because the disk is skipped.
Hints
- Requires Scale Computing HyperCore 9.4.32 or later and Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2.3617 or later.
- Install the plug-in on a Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.2 server, configure a backup repository, and add a HyperCore cluster node in the Veeam console.
- Dedicated workers require 2 vCPUs and 2 GB RAM for the base system, plus 1 vCPU and 1 GB RAM per concurrent task. The default worker configuration allocates 6 vCPUs, 6 GB RAM, and 100 GB disk space.
- Worker updates run at each worker start. Disable Check for updates online in the worker advanced network settings to prevent online update checks.
- Default backup settings are enabled deduplication, Optimal compression, and 1 MB storage optimization. Deduplication settings cannot be changed during job configuration.
- Backup encryption is disabled by default but can be enabled at the repository level.
- Configuration backup encryption must be enabled for backup-appliance configuration to be included automatically. A configuration backup cannot be restored to multiple backup appliances.
- HyperCore backups use forward-incremental per-VM chains; active or synthetic full backups are supported.
- For instant recovery, use a dedicated mount server with at least 512 MB additional RAM per concurrently recovered VM disk.
- Each protected HyperCore VM with a restore point from the previous 31 days consumes one Veeam Universal License instance.
