Veeam Backup Veem Update Version 13.1

Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 is available for Windows from July 29, 2026. The release adds upgrade, compatibility, authentication, Web UI, Hyper-V, Windows agent, and infrastructure guidance, with several deprecated and discontinued features.

• NTLM authentication is deprecated in Windows-based installations in favor of Kerberos. Where Kerberos is unavailable, deploy the Veeam Deployment Kit for certificate-based features such as persistent guest agents.
• SSH private keys generated with DSA are no longer supported.
• Microsoft Smart App Control must be disabled before installing Veeam Agent for Microsoft Windows.
• Certain antivirus products may interfere with installation or file-level recovery; exclude Veeam services and application folders from real-time scanning.

• The Web UI provides core management capabilities, while the Remote Console remains required for functionality not yet available in the Web UI.
• Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 introduces automated update management for Veeam Software Appliance hosts, including centralized maintenance-window configuration and update monitoring.

• Installation or deployment on Windows systems with Turkish or other non-ASCII locales may fail during PostgreSQL processing. Use an ASCII-named locale or preinstall PostgreSQL with an ASCII locale.
• The Veeam Software Appliance may fail to boot on Hyper-V with Secure Boot unless the Microsoft UEFI Certificate Authority template is selected.
• Hyper-V application-aware processing can fail for some guest operating systems or Active Directory domain controllers because of Microsoft VSS and integration-component limitations.
• PowerShell Direct fails for 32-bit Windows guest operating systems and may cause credential testing to hang.
• Windows Agent backup jobs may fail during simultaneous file-level recovery because of VSS contention.
• Windows Agent backups cannot wake computers from Connected Standby or Modern Standby, and retry wake-up may fail when the Sleep after timeout is below 10 minutes.
• The Web UI does not refresh expired access tokens in Firefox.
• Windows Server 2025 and Windows 11 24H2 ReFS volumes with deduplication and encryption enabled are not supported as backup repositories.
• Windows failover clusters with workgroup, multiple-domain, mixed-OS, or CSV-based configurations are not supported for Veeam agent backup.
• A Windows file-level restore from a ReFS volume requires a Windows mount server.

• Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 supports automated in-place upgrades from version 12.3.1 build 12.3.1.1139 or later. Earlier upgrades require Veeam Support.
• Perform an encrypted configuration backup and back up the SQL Server configuration databases before upgrading. Ensure all jobs and restore sessions are complete, and temporarily disable periodic, Backup Copy, and CDP jobs.
• Before upgrading, ensure ports 443 and, when upgrading from version 12, 6162 are available on the backup server.
• The Veeam PowerShell module now requires PowerShell 7; scheduled scripts must call pwsh.exe instead of powershell.exe.
• Upgrade Veeam ONE before Veeam Backup Enterprise Manager, and upgrade Enterprise Manager before Veeam Backup & Replication when these products are integrated.
• Windows agents below version 6.3.1 stop working after the backup server is upgraded to 13.1. Upgrade affected agents to 13.1; agents at 6.3.1 or later continue working but do not support new 13.1 features.
• Migration from a Windows installation to Veeam Software Appliance is not supported in 13.1. Remain on the latest 13.0 patch and contact Veeam Support if migration is required.
• Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 removes or deprecates several capabilities, including reversed incremental mode for new jobs, restore point-based retention for new jobs, single-storage backup format, U-AIR, the Veeam Cloud Connect Portal, and CD/DVD/BD recovery-media burning.
• After upgrading, configuration database optimization may temporarily reduce backup server or Enterprise Manager performance for up to approximately one hour.
• If using Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 on the same machine, upgrade it before upgrading Veeam Backup & Replication.
• After upgrading to 13.1, existing Azure Restore Proxies must be removed and redeployed.
