Update Summary

Veeam Backup & Replication 13.1 release notes cover installation, upgrade guidance, and extensive platform-specific limitations. The release is available starting July 29, 2026.

Update Details

Known Issues

  • Upgrading from Veeam Backup & Replication 12 to 13 may cause Linux VM backups to fail when fstab contains mount points with encoded spaces.
  • RHEL 10 cannot be used as a VMware proxy out of the box because libcrypt.so.1 is missing.
  • Replica failback forces digest recalculation for both source and target VMs, so quick rollback is ignored.
  • DirectSAN on Linux proxies uses only path failover, not load balancing.
  • Hot add processing does not support IDE disks and has multiple VM configuration limitations.
  • Cloud Connect Portal is deprecated and no longer usable.
  • Migration from Windows-based Veeam Backup & Replication to Veeam Software Appliance is not supported in 13.1.
  • After upgrading to 13.1, existing Azure Restore Proxies must be removed and redeployed.
  • Veeam Cloud Connect tenants running version 13.0.0.4967 are not supported and must be upgraded to 13.0.1 or later.
  • The Web UI does not yet include the full functionality available in the Remote Console.

Hints

  • If upgrading from previous versions, review the upgrade checklist before starting.
  • Download the latest ISO because it includes the latest cumulative patch.
  • Port 443 is now required for Web UI operations and may block upgrade if already in use.
  • Veeam Backup & Replication 13 supports automated in-place upgrade from version 12.3.1 (build 12.3.1.1139) or later.
  • Customers planning to migrate from Windows to Veeam Software Appliance should stay on the latest 13.0 patch release and contact Veeam Support.
  • After upgrading, remote servers may need component upgrades through the automated upgrade wizard.
  • Configuration backups should be encrypted so stored credentials are included.
  • Several legacy features are removed or deprecated, including restore point-based retention for new jobs, reversed incremental backup mode, single-storage backup format, and Active Directory-based authentication for new Cloud Connect tenants.
