Veeam Backup Veem Update Version 7.1

Veeam Backup for Nutanix AHV 7.1 adds application-aware processing, guest indexing, inline malware scanning, and SOSAPI support. It also requires Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1.1139 or later and upgrades existing deployments to 7.1.

• Inline Malware Scan adds AI-powered encryption entropy analysis, onion link detection, and ransom note detection.
• Guest Indexing Data Scan expands AHV malware detection with inline scanning for suspicious filesystem activity.
• Application-aware processing adds VSS quiescence and database log shipping support for supported applications.

• Application-aware processing with VSS quiescence, experimental database log shipping, Veeam Explorers integration, and pre-freeze/post-thaw scripting.
• Guest Filesystem Indexing for global file catalog visibility in Veeam Enterprise Manager.
• Inline Malware Scan for AHV workloads.
• SOSAPI support for object storage backup targets.
• Granular Nutanix Guest Tools control for application-consistent or crash-consistent snapshots and log handling.

• Only one Nutanix AHV backup appliance can be added per Nutanix AHV cluster or Prism Central.
• Migrate Across Clusters is not supported; migrated VMs are skipped or start a new backup chain.
• The backup appliance does not support IPv6 and must communicate over IPv4.
• Guest processing settings are not available in the backup appliance web console.
• Instant Recovery is not supported for ARM VMs, Veeam Availability for Nutanix AHV 1.0 backups, or several agent/file-level backup types.

• Existing deployments from versions 4.0, 4a, 5.0, 5.1, 6, and 6.1 can be upgraded to 7.1 only together with Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1.
• For new deployments, 7.1 is available as part of Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1 starting from March 19, 2025.
• Major appliance upgrades are performed by redeployment; the old appliance is removed after a successful upgrade.
• Minor updates from the Veeam Backup & Replication console create a VM snapshot before updating and can revert automatically on failure.
• UEFI boot is now used for the backup appliance and workers.
• Nutanix AHV Plug-in 12.7.1.12 is included and requires Veeam Backup & Replication 12.3.1.1139 or later.
