New Features

  • Support for Microsoft Exchange Server Subscription Edition.

Hints

  • Starting from v8.5, additional Microsoft Graph permissions are required for backup app registrations in Microsoft Entra ID to support Exchange mailbox protection after EWS retirement; see KB4820.
  • If upgrading from the public technical preview, remove remote backup proxies, uninstall pre-release components, and manually delete pre-release repositories, databases, NATS streams, and the C:\ProgramData\Veeam\Backup365 directory.
  • Veeam Backup for Microsoft 365 v8.5 supports upgrades from v8, v8.1, v8.2, v8.3, and v8.4 builds listed in the release notes.
  • If the REST API component is installed on a separate host, it must be upgraded manually after upgrading the main product.
  • The release version is available for download starting from June 29, 2026.
