Synology DSM Update Version 7.3-81180

DSM 7.3-81180 (2025-10-08) adds auto-update postponement, Synology Tiering support, native exFAT support, and new LDAP/domain options. It also fixes backup, Snapshot Replication, and multiple security vulnerabilities.

• Fixed security vulnerabilities in curl (CVE-2023-38545), AppleTalk (CVE-2023-51781), krb5 (CVE-2024-37371), PostgreSQL (CVE-2025-1094), and multiple additional vulnerabilities (CVE-2024-12085, CVE-2020-22218, CVE-2024-24806, CVE-2023-37920).
• Added an option to automatically lock encrypted storage entities during a manual reset to prevent unauthorized access.

• Fixed DSM configuration backup and Hyper Backup failures when Shared Folder Sync tasks were running.
• Fixed backup failures caused by residual snapshots in Active Backup for Business and Hyper Backup.
• Fixed Snapshot Replication task failures due to unexpected errors.

• Added an option to postpone important DSM auto-updates for up to 28 days after the first notification.
• Added support for Synology Tiering and Synology Tiering Vault.
• Added native exFAT support for external devices; the exFAT Access package has been discontinued.
• Added support for backing up and restoring the Verify server certificate setting in LDAP directory service.
• Added support for selecting organizational units (OUs) to synchronize when joining a domain.
• Added support for sending OTP emergency recovery codes by email for 2-factor authentication on OS login.

• After installing this update, downgrade to a previous DSM version is not possible.
• The NAS will restart during installation.
• Some models will not receive this update through notifications and must download the upgrade patch from Synology Download Center.
• DSM 7.3 will be the last upgradable version for the listed legacy models.
• Media file processing for HEVC (H.265), AVC (H.264), and VC-1 is now handled by end devices; unsupported clients may have limited media playback.
• PetaSpace has reached end of life and is no longer supported.

• Node.js v14, Node.js v16, PHP 7.3, PHP 7.4, and PHP 8.0 are no longer supported.
• Several packages will be automatically updated or require manual updates for compatibility, including Active Backup for Business, Container Manager, Hyper Backup, Snapshot Replication, Surveillance Station 9.2.0 or below, Synology Drive, Synology Photos, and Web Station.
• If auto update does not run, perform a manual update in Control Panel and complete the required pre-update actions.
• For domain OU synchronization changes after joining, you must leave and rejoin the domain.
• This version is released in a staged rollout.
