KB5078297 delivers Cumulative Update 23 for SQL Server 2022, adding 15 fixes after CU22. It also resolves the Database Mail regression from the initial CU23 release KB5074819.

• The initial CU23 release KB5074819 caused Database Mail to stop working; install the current KB5078297 version instead.
• Email messages queued while the initial CU23 release was installed are not automatically resent after uninstalling or updating.

• If the initial CU23 release KB5074819 was downloaded, do not install it; download and install KB5078297 instead.
• If the initial CU23 release was already installed, uninstall it or install KB5078297 on top to restore Database Mail functionality.
• Future cumulative updates also include the Database Mail fix.
• The update applies to SQL Server 2022 on Windows and Linux.
