Google Gemini Update

Gemini can now use Google Classroom context to help educators draft communications, create differentiated assignments, and summarize student progress. The Classroom app in Gemini is rolling out now for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains, with completion expected by June 18, 2026.

• Gemini can collaborate with Google Classroom to use class context for educator tasks such as drafting posts, generating differentiated materials, and summarizing student progress.
• Students 18 and older can use the Classroom app in Gemini to organize assignments, create study plans, practice for tests, and review announcements.
• Users can explicitly invoke Classroom context in Gemini by typing @Classroom.

• The Classroom app in Gemini cannot enter grades, provide private feedback directly, delete or archive assignments or announcements, or create rubrics.
• The Classroom app in Gemini does not currently support data regionalization; usage data may be stored outside the designated data region.

• Admins: Classroom app access in Gemini is ON by default for Education domains and OFF by default for other domains; it can be controlled at the OU or group level in the Gemini section of the Admin console.
• End users: Access depends on admin configuration and can be disabled in the connected apps section of Gemini app settings.
• The feature is available in English only for users aged 18 or older with a Google Workspace for Education or Business account.
• Data region support for the Classroom app in Gemini is expected later this year.
