Known Issues
- Speech translation is unavailable in live streams, meeting recordings, client-side encrypted meetings, dial-in or third-party interoperability calls, and meetings using adaptive audio.
- Availability is subject to regional and age restrictions.
Hints
- Admins can enable or disable speech translation by organizational unit or group in Admin console under Apps > Google Workspace > Google Meet > Gemini settings.
- Speech translation is enabled for eligible Workspace editions when the Gemini for Meet admin setting is enabled, but individual participants must turn it on during a meeting.
- Rapid Release rollout starts October 22, 2026, with feature visibility expected within 1–3 days. Scheduled Release rollout starts November 2, 2026, with visibility taking up to 15 days.
- Speech translation is available for up to 90 minutes per meeting on eligible base Workspace and Google AI Pro plans, and up to 8 hours on AI Expanded Access, AI Ultra Access, and Google AI Ultra plans.
- Google Meet hardware participants can listen to translated speech from remote participants, but speech from conference room hardware is not translated for others.
- Mobile users must update the Google Meet application to access the new capabilities.
