Google Gemini Update

Ask Gemini in Google Chat adds a unified Gemini command line for searching Workspace data, drafting content, summarizing conversations, and managing tasks and events. The Chat side panel is being replaced, and conversation history will not migrate to the new surface.

• Conversation history from the Gemini side panel in Chat will not migrate to Ask Gemini in Chat.
• Ask Gemini in Chat currently affects only users whose Google account language is English.

• Admins: Available by default when Gemini in Workspace in Chat and Workspace Intelligence for all apps are enabled.
• End users must be enrolled in Workspace Smart Features to use Ask Gemini.
• Admins can export Gemini conversation history; end users may be able to download it if permitted by their organization.
• In Data Export and Google Takeout, the data is stored under Gemini in Workspace, not Google Chat.
• Promotional access to higher usage limits is available through Oct 1, 2026; usage limits apply afterward.
• Rollout for Rapid Release and Scheduled Release domains starts Aug 26, 2026 and may take up to 15 days to appear.
