Google Gemini Update

Gemini in Google Classroom expands to K-12 and higher education students of all ages who already have access, with contextual starter prompts and "Learn with Gemini" support. The release begins Aug 10, 2026 and includes Google Classroom access controls for admins.

• Gemini in Classroom is now available to K-12 and higher education students of all ages who already have access to Gemini in Classroom, Gemini, and Gemini Notebook.
• Student starter prompts in the Gemini tab can use Classroom context, including class and assignment details, to tailor responses to schoolwork.
• "Learn with Gemini" is available from the redesigned Classroom homepage for supported assignments, offering guided help and study materials such as quizzes, flashcards, and study guides.

• Access to the Gemini tab in Classroom is on by default for teachers and students of all ages, controlled by the Gemini in Classroom setting.
• Students must be in Classroom as a Student and be in an OU or group with Gemini in Classroom enabled; Gemini Notebook and/or Gemini can also be enabled, but both are not required.
• Admins can disable access for users under 18 by placing them in a separate OU and turning off access for that OU.
• Feature visibility rolls out on the web starting Aug 10, 2026; mobile rollout starts Aug 17, 2026.
• Available for Education Fundamentals, Standard, and Plus.
