Google Cloud Update Version Looker 26.8

July 17, 2026 Google Cloud updates add Batch instance flexibility in Preview, a new Document AI custom extractor model powered by Gemini 3.5 Flash, and GA data lineage control for BigQuery, Spark, and Airflow. • Knowledge Catalog: Data lineage control at the organization, folder, or project level is generally available for BigQuery, Managed Service for Apache Spark, and Managed Service for Apache Airflow.
• Looker 26.8: Support for Java OpenJDK 21 is available; Looker-hosted instances have been upgraded to OpenJDK 21.

• Looker customer-hosted instances should upgrade to OpenJDK 21.
• If running Looker with java -jar instead of the startup script, include --add-opens=java.base/sun.nio.ch=ALL-UNNAMED --add-opens=java.base/java.io=ALL-UNNAMED --add-opens=java.base/java.nio=ALL-UNNAMED.
• Looker recommends transitioning to new Java updates as they are released; other Java versions, Oracle JDK, and OpenJDK are not supported.
