Anthropic Claude Update

Claude organizations can now self-serve HIPAA readiness for Claude Enterprise and the Claude Platform (API). Eligible admins can review the BAA, download the implementation guide, and enable HIPAA configuration in one flow.

• HIPAA readiness adds privacy and security safeguards for PHI, including encryption, access controls, and audit logging.
• The API blocks non-eligible features for HIPAA-enabled organizations with a 400 error to prevent accidental use outside the BAA.
• Structured outputs and strict tool schemas must not include PHI in schema definitions, including property names, enum values, const values, and pattern regexes.

• Self-serve HIPAA configuration in Claude Console > Settings > Privacy.
• One flow to review the BAA, download the HIPAA Implementation Guide, and enable HIPAA readiness.
• API enforcement that returns a 400 error when a HIPAA-enabled organization requests a non-eligible feature.

• HIPAA readiness is not available for Claude consumer products, Claude Code, partner-operated platforms, or Claude Platform on AWS and Microsoft Foundry.
• Processing PHI through the Claude Console interface is not covered, even though enabling HIPAA readiness from Console settings is supported.
• Once enabled, HIPAA readiness is permanent and cannot be disabled by an administrator.

• Eligible admins need the HIPAA management permission to see the HIPAA compliance card in Claude Console.
• Enablement takes effect immediately after the BAA is accepted and is bound to the exact BAA version downloaded.
• Organizations that require a negotiated or custom BAA must contact the Anthropic sales team.
• HIPAA readiness is enforced at the organization level; use separate organizations if you need both HIPAA-ready and general-purpose API access.
• Claude Fable 5 and Claude Mythos 5 require 30-day data retention; ZDR is not available for either model.
• For ZDR organizations, 30-day retention can be enabled per workspace to use Claude Fable 5 or Claude Mythos 5 in that workspace only.
