Microsoft 365 Copilot Update Version May 19, 2026

May 19, 2026 updates for Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, OneDrive, SharePoint, and Viva Glint add PDF viewing, GPT-5.5 models, Copilot actions, and admin governance changes. Roadmap IDs 557371 and 551197 are included.

• In Outlook, users can add emails or selected text from email threads directly into Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat context.
• PDFs now open directly inside Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat on Windows, Mac, and web.
• OpenAI GPT-5.5 Instant is available in Copilot Chat for faster, more accurate responses and improved image/STEM handling.
• OpenAI GPT 5.5 Thinking is available in Copilot Chat for deeper reasoning and multistep problem solving.
• OneDrive file preview now shows suggested Copilot actions such as summarizing documents or generating FAQs.
• SharePoint Admin Agent provides natural-language guidance, insights, and recommendations in the SharePoint admin center.

• IT admins can enable Anthropic and xAI model providers for specific users and groups in the admin center; xAI is currently available in Microsoft Copilot Studio for US customers via admin opt-in.
• Viva Glint Copilot enablement now uses Microsoft 365 Copilot access controls and Viva Feature Access Management as the single control plane; existing Viva Glint Copilot toggles are removed.
• Developers can now configure icons, visibility settings, connection metadata, property descriptions, and semantic labels for custom connectors to improve Copilot relevance and UX.
