Google Workspace Update

Google Drive is introducing alignment approvals for lighter-weight document sign-off without resetting approvals on every content change. The feature is part of the Drive approvals ecosystem and is available in Rapid Release starting June 2, 2026.

• New alignment approvals option lets teams request sign-off while allowing document edits without resetting recorded approver decisions.
• A new checkbox in the standard request dialog controls whether content changes reset pending approvals or keep them intact.

• Admins can disable approval requests at the domain, OU, or group level, but there is no separate admin setting for alignment approvals.
• Alignment approvals are off by default for end users and can be enabled by the user.
• Rapid Release rollout began on 2026-06-02 with gradual visibility over up to 15 days; Scheduled Release starts on 2026-06-15 with full rollout over 1–3 days.
