June 18, 2026 Google Cloud release notes cover API Gateway runtime changes, Apigee X maintenance updates, Cloud Logging regional endpoint support, Cloud SQL upgrades, and new Gemini Enterprise and Security Command Center features.

• API Gateway now fails closed for 4xx client-side quota failures, improving request rejection behavior for both gRPC and OpenAPI gateways.
• API Gateway gRPC error mappings changed for quota exceeded and invalid API key responses, which may affect client-side error handling.
• Security Command Center External Exposure is in Preview to help reduce external attack surface through asset discovery, exposure path validation, and active exploitability testing.
• Apigee X instances with DNS misconfiguration or a removed Apigee Java Library will not be updated during maintenance.

• API Gateway runtime architecture updated to improve integration with Google Cloud Platform services.
• Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL minor versions 14.22, 15.17, 16.13, 17.9, and 18.3 were upgraded to newer maintenance releases.
• Cloud SQL for MySQL now supports minor version 8.0.46.

• Cloud Logging API now supports the ca regional endpoint.
• Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL is integrated with Google AI Studio for building applications with a developer edition instance.
• Cloud Trace can now collect and analyze multimodal prompts and responses from LangGraph or ADK applications.
• Gemini Enterprise adds workflow agents in GA with allowlist.
• Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform adds Agent Gateway in General Availability.
• Agent Observability is now GA with default-on tracing for new ADK agents on Agent Engine.
• Security Command Center External Exposure is available in Preview for the Premium tier.

• API Gateway rollout to production instances may take up to 4 weeks across Google Cloud zones.
• Apigee X instances with a DNS misconfiguration or a removed Apigee Java Library will not be updated.
• If other behavior differences occur in API Gateway after the runtime update, Google advises contacting Customer Care.

• Apigee X instances below 1-17-0-apigee-9 with a preferred maintenance window will be upgraded within 7 to 21 days, and a notification is expected within two business days.
• To use Gemini Enterprise workflow agents, the project must be added to the allowlist and the Enable agent designer toggle must be turned on.
• For Cloud SQL for PostgreSQL minor version changes, use the database minor version upgrade process or self-service maintenance for maintenance version updates.
• For Agent Observability, Google recommends storing multimodal prompt and response payloads in a Cloud Storage bucket rather than Cloud Logging.
